What is Sclerotherapy?
Pregnancy, prolonged standing, and heredity are the primary causes of unsightly and often painful varicose and spider veins. Sclerotherapy was developed over 75 years go and is at present one of the most prevalent treatments for spider veins. During treatment, a sclerosing agent is injected into the vein through a tiny needle. Upon injection the solution replaces the blood in the vein generating irritation and ultimately corrosion to the vessel walls. The body then starts a natural healing process and the vein begins to decompose, shrink and eventually disappear. Depending on the number of veins, treatment sessions may take anywhere from 15-45 minutes and up to 3 sessions. After sclerosing session you will be able to immediately resume regular activities. However, excessive standing or vigorous activities are not advised for at least 24-48 hours after Sclerosing session. Bruising may appear and some pigmentation in skin can appear, but is only temporary and will fade over time.

-Bring and or wear Loose fitting clothes to appointment
-Do not wear any lotions or other cosmetics on your legs on the day of your appointment.
-Do not shave your legs the morning of your appointment
-Do not tan or use bottled tanning products 2 weeks before and after your treatment.
